About Tumelo Chaka
Tumelo Chaka has been described by his colleagues and clients as a commercial strategist and entrepreneurial dealmaker with an ability to understand and capitalise on opportunities whilst ensuring a high level of value for stakeholders.
With extensive experience in Financial Services, Retail and Business School Executive Education, he is currently an Executive for The Entry Wallet segment at FNB overseeing Growth of the market that earns up to R36k per annum. Tumelo was previously head of Commercialisation Emerging Payments and head of Sales Strategy Forex and Investment for Nedbank Retails and Business bank. Tumelo has found a niche market in innovative products which are for informal and emerging markets.
He served in various positions where his core responsibilities were to drive the commercial strategy and optimise the market share of these organisations. Noted as a visionary strategist, with expertise in international business development, cross-functional team leadership and competitive market positioning, delivering positive outcomes with strong and sustainable gains. He is an inventive professional with a proven track record of accelerating revenue growth, business investments and scale, customer value proposition and new market penetration.
Tumelo’s international exposure includes being part of the sales planning strategy, deal structuring and transactional advisory in Beijing and Shanghai, China, further enabling him to nurture competencies to; improve market share, anchor strategic investments, integrate global entrepreneurial insights, drive sales productivity models, growth, customer/partner satisfaction and leveraging customer insights.
He also speaks, writes and advises on Fintech innovation, the power of retail in banking as well as the role of business schools in SA and entrepreneurial development.
Tumelo is currently busy with his Ph.D. in Marketing focusing on Decision-making maturity models for low-income consumers in FMCG in South Africa at UCT and concurrently, a Master’s in Management in Digital Business focusing on the digital marketing maturity models for the banking sector in South Africa in Wits Business School.
